Is there More to Life?
Is there more to life than what we own, what's in our bank account, and our relationships with other human beings? Is there an afterlife, and if there is, can we know anything about it? Feel free to enter a comment below.

A puzzling question you ask. The pessimist in me wants to say it's like asking the question "which came first, the chicken or the egg?". The other more important question is will we live long enough for evolution to answer this question. The human brain only utilizes a small fraction of it's power. New ways of thinking is the way that your question can truly be answered. Unless that is god or something like him comes down to earth.
I think in the last 100 years or so humans have made a real stride at helping our own evolution. We have made everything so easy in our life, that is has given our minds a chance to start evolving. We have made real progress.
Hopefully the oil crisis and global warming are used as stepping stones to further our evolution and not rocks to smash us back into in the dark age.
After reading your comment I wondered if you accessed this blog via the MEGAQUESTIONS site or if you accessed it directly. My original intent when I set this up was for people to visit MEGAQUESTIONS before posting any comments, and I'm afraid I didn't do a very good job of this. In any case, it seems to me that the idea that in our present state of "evolution" we lack the capacity to make a meaningful inquiry into this matter is in essence the same thing as saying that it is unknowable (click here and see Reason #2). Therefore, to be certain that we presently lack the capacity to make a meaningful inquiry into the matter requires us have an exhaustive knowledge of all the evidence that is available to us. This does not mean, however, that we are necessarily required to have an exhaustive knowledge of all available evidence in order to make significant progress in the matter, provided that sufficient evidence is in fact presently available to us.
